When you estimate that 100 billion clothing items are bought every year and 85% will either go into a landfill or be burnt in a incinerator. That would be calculated as equivalent of a truck full of clothing being dumped every second.

But it doesn\u2019t end there. While some brands end up bringing out up to 24 collections a year. When checking what the garments were made from, it was shocking, it has been estimated that 60% of clothing is made from polyester,which contains plastic. Problem is that when you wash these clothing micro plastics are released into the ocean, and contributes about 31% of plastic pollution in the oceans that will not biodegrade.

But it\u2019s not just polyester that is polluting our waters. There is also cotton. Did you know that due to cotton that the fashion industry is the world\u2019s second largest consumer of water. How you must be wondering? Well it takes 700 gallons (approx 3182.263 litres) of water to produce a cotton shirt ,and to make a pair of denim jeans that would take about 2000 gallons ( approx 7570.824 litres) of water . Unfortunately cotton is a high water intensive plant.<\/p>
